Specific Skills
This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk) with a competitive wage of $44.92 per hour, plus vacation pay at 8.5%. Reporting to the Library Director, the Manager of Finance & Facilities provides leadership for the planning, performance, and oversight of the financial and facilities requirements of the Library. This includes ongoing supervision of department staff members. Working as part of the Library’s Leadership Team, the Manager participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the organization’s strategic and operational activities, in keeping with the mission, values, and goals of the Prince George Public Library. Responsibilities require the exercise of considerable independence and interpretive judgement in both the creation and implementation of policies, plans, and procedures.
Skills:
We are looking for: • A post-secondary degree with an accounting major. • Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience, including 3 years of relevant management experience in accounting. • Basic Security Training License required within 3 months of start of employment. • Knowledge and experience with a wide range of current technologies, including accounting software packages, HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Adagio or batch accounting an asset. • Knowledge of municipal and library financial management processes, procedures and practices; standard accounting practices and internal controls. • Knowledge of planning and project management for facility projects; occupational health and safety standards; and incident management best practices. • Proven ability to select, train, supervise, and motivate staff in a collaborative environment. • Effective leadership skills with a commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams. • Effective teamwork skills and ability to contribute to a collaborative work environment. • Ability to adapt to change, help others adapt, to communicate change, and handle stress. • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. • Experience managing in a union environment is considered an asset. • Creative and resourceful in generating new ideas and solving issues.. • Innovative problem-solving and decision-making skills to assess opportunities as well as risks and explore new opportunities. • Well-developed interpersonal skills. • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with access to a vehicle.
