The People & Performance Lead will report to the People & Performance Manager within the project and plays a lead role in the Alliance’s overall people, high performance, and culture development strategies. You will be responsible for day-to-day decision making and prioritizing, with a focus on providing consultation to the Alliance team on strategic planning and employee relations, while developing and managing human resources programs and procedures.

This position is in Toronto.

Specific Skills
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a progressive Human Resources role, or a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Post-secondary school education in Human Resources Management or Business Administration.
  • Working towards a HR designation or completed HR designation is an asset.
  • Human Resources experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to solve problems moderately complex in nature and make routine recommendations.
  • Ability to work proactively and positively as part of a team acting with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced building project environment with competing priorities and multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to liaise and form positive relationships with all levels of management and team members.
Responsibilities
  • You will provide strategic and tactical internal consulting and problem-solving advice to the project team in human resources programs and services.
  • Contribute to the Alliance project strategy by helping the leaders to identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities and behaviors.
  • You will work closely with members of the management team in reviewing and actioning our workforce plan to ensure the project meets the key performance indicators.
  • Assist the management team with building a high-performance team through talent assessments, workforce and succession planning, risk assessment and development plans.
  • You will be able to effectively manage situations of conflict by working closely with members of the management team and employees to ensure employee relations issues are handled professionally and in a timely manner.
  • You will be able to conduct workplace investigations and manage grievances when appropriate.
  • You will implement and champion human resource policies and practices which align and meet the needs of our project team.
  • You will support the development of processes and communications for the ongoing employee performance cycle among all members of the Alliance team.
  • You will champion the learning opportunities provided by the Alliance to enhance employee performance.
  • You will provide guidance, expertise, and recommendations to enhance the quality and profile of the rewards and recognition program.
  • You will reinforce the development of a coaching culture as a way of inspiring project team members.
  • You will communicate, influence, and explain various initiatives across a wide range of levels and audiences within the Alliance.
