Senior Manager, Business Intelligence

Specific Skills
  • University degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years progressively responsible and practical experience in business intelligence applications, including data management and automation.
  • Minimum three years’ experience managing a team of data professionals.
  • Required knowledge and proficiency with data visualization tools, MS Power BI,GIS tools, ArcGIS Online, ArcPro and QGIS..
  • Required knowledge and proficiency with SQL, and database structure in general.
  • Required knowledge and proficiency with programming languages, Python in particular.
  • Required knowledge and proficiency with cloud-based services and APIs such as Databricks, Jupyter Notebooks.
  • Knowledge of Project Management techniques and best practices.
  • Knowledge of survey design, data collection and management.
  • Knowledge for data and an understanding of the role in data in accountability and decision-making.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and lead concurrent projects and demonstrated project management experience required, familiarity with Jira an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, technical and numeracy skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is required, French is an asset.
Responsibilities
Responsibility 1: Product Development and Optimization
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of recurrent and ad-hoc BI operational dashboards leveraging internal CRC systems, utilizing best practices and in accordance with applicable internal and external policy and regulation as it relates to data privacy, security and management.
  • Responsible for the production of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping tools for HS response and readiness, and for advocating for and supporting the usage of GIS tools and solutions.
  • Maintains security structure, and data architecture within Power BI and ArcGIS for Humanitarian Services analytical tools developed by the IM team, in line with CRCS data and analytics standards.
  • Defines, implements, and monitors Key Performance Indicators to ensure product relevance and support short- and long-term business and strategic objectives within Information Management.
 Responsibility 2: Data and Analytics
  • Advises on data and analytics initiatives throughout the Society, including but not limited to providing guidance on the technologies and human effort required to complete initiatives.
  • Advises on data and analytics initiatives throughout Humanitarian Services to ensure consistency in data definitions, usage, and structure.
  • Makes recommendations on future actions based upon experiment results.
  • Develops recommendations for Information Management on data and analytics processes, tools, and technologies.
Responsibility 3:  Staff Management
  • Assigns work to staff and monitors for completion, accuracy and quality of work.
  • Ensures that staff work is completed utilizing best practices and in accordance with applicable internal and external policy and regulation as it relates to data privacy, security and management.
  • Ensures team resources, processes and tools support effectiveness and accountability.
  • Plans for personnel changes and ensures that knowledge is transferred during the transition period.

Working Conditions :  
  • May include long to moderate hours sitting and using computers and office equipment.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours on short notice.
  • Ability to work in stressful and often ambiguous conditions.
  • This position may require domestic or overseas travel to attend conferences, workshops and meetings as required.
