Talent Acquisition Specialist (Contract)

Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition 
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and candidate selection criteria.
  • Build and nurture a talent pool & pipeline to support the organizational talent needs and in alignment with SCC values.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to understand their hiring needs and provide expert advice on recruitment strategies.
  • Assist in decision-making processes by providing insights on candidate strengths and weaknesses.
  • Actively source and recruit applicants through online channels, such as LinkedIn, job boards, social platforms, and other professional networks.
  • Oversee and deliver full cycle recruitment services including intake meetings, job postings, sourcing, interviewing, selection, employment offers and ensuring orientation and onboarding processes are in place.
  • Manage recruitment processes/steps ensuring to adhere to strict timelines including timely follow-ups with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Liaising with internal departments to determine recruitment needs.
  • Conduct initial phone screenings to assess candidates’ qualifications, experience and fit.
  • Update and create interview guides, templates and forms.
  • Participate in interview panels as required using behaviour and competency-based techniques.
  • Administer pre-employment assessments, assignments, and evaluations.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews with hiring managers and interview panels.
  • Managing candidate pool and hiring processes via ADP Workforce Now.
  • Create and document best practice recruitment processes.
  • Attend job fairs and recruitment events to build a strong candidate pipeline.
  • Promote SCC’s brand with recruitment initiatives and events.
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience through effective communication and follow-up throughout the recruitment process.
    • Provide feedback and guidance to candidates’ post-interview.
    • Administer reference checks and draft offer letters for successful candidates.
    • Track and report key metrics designed to measure and predict staffing activity.
    • Maintain accurate and well-ordered documentation on all candidates, searches, hiring interactions, and other recruiting activities.
    Onboarding
    • Provide onboarding support and backup to the People & Operations team with coordinating new hire packages as well as organizing and conducting new hire orientation sessions to introduce employees to company policies, procedures, culture, and values.
    • Support with preparation and coordination of new hire paperwork, ensuring all required documents are completed accurately and timely.
    • Provide backup support to HR Generalist to:
      1. Coordinate with IT and Facilities to set up equipment, email accounts, and access cards for new hires.
      2. Collaborate with hiring managers to create and update onboarding schedules.
      3. Schedule and organize compliance training sessions for new hires.
      4. Monitor the progress of new hires during the onboarding period and provide support as needed.
Additional Requirements
  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a hands-on talent acquisition/HR function responsible for full cycle recruitment in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience using the ADP WorkforceNow Talent Module and/or other Applicant Tracking Systems and databases such as LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Demonstrated experience of bringing new recruiting operational concepts to implementation, active participant in the enhancement of tools, techniques, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience in non-profit sector is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, AODA, Canada Labour Code, Human Rights Code.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Outlook Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Must adhere to Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding policy and protocols.
