Specific Skills
  • Significant knowledge of computer systems and training techniques and understanding system inter-dependencies;  experience with SAP, M5 Fleet Management software, Google and P6 scheduling tools
Skills required for success:
  • Expertise in developing course curriculum for and to adult learners
  • Ability to effectively interpret and translate technical processes and terms to a level consistent with the audience’s knowledge and learning needs
  • Experience with a variety of delivery methods including elearning, face-to-face, web/story based
  • Experience with learning tools such as Storyline, Captivate, Articulate, 3D simulators, and video editing tools
  • Experience utilizing Learning Management Systems
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, schedule, and execute training plans and programs
  • Competence with Google and other job specific software
  • Excellent writing skills to develop a variety of training materials
  • Effective and adaptable communication/presentation skills to support a variety of learners

Responsibilities
You'll be responsible for delivering training programs to Fleet & Facility Services' staff, with a primary focus on New Employee Orientation and key systems such as SAP, M5 Fleet Management System, and Google training. This position demands a deep understanding of business operations to effectively train employees through various methods, including formal sessions, job shadowing, and self-directed learning. Additionally, you'll coordinate ad hoc training sessions, leveraging both internal and external resources as needed, and ensure compliance with established processes for external contracts and training record management. What will you do?
  • Develop and maintain training curricula and/or recommend vendor programs that meet the instructional goals and objectives
  • Deliver courses in a manner and in an environment that is conducive to adult learning
  • Coordinate and deliver onsite group and individual instruction and training; effectively manage disruptive student behaviour, follow up on no-shows, and escalate and report each incident to supervisor
  • Formulate training outlines and determine best-fit solutions to support on-the-job and formal learning objectives that meet client needs/timelines with minimal impact to operations
  • Incorporate requirements related to legislation, operations, City policies, directives, and procedures in the development of teaching materials for audiences with varying skill and educational levels
  • Manage training logistics e.g. booking rooms, setting up/coordinating A/V equipment or props, inviting guests, distributing and collecting rosters
  • Work with training team to ensure training records are entered into the LMS within the established time frame
  • Conduct client-focused assessments based on established evaluation methods
  • Proactively maintain awareness of operational and system changes including upgrades, new equipment, facility maintenance schedules, seasonal demands, and other impacts related to training requirements
  • Draft training timelines and schedules that will achieve the client’s needs and seek appropriate approvals

Educational Requirements

  • University Degree in Education, Communication or a discipline as required by area of specialization, or a related University Degree combined with post-secondary coursework Adult Learning
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in the curriculum development and delivery, program maintenance, evaluation and course facilitation of adult training in an operational environment
